Job Purpose The Procurement Executive will be responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement and sourcing of steel and iron & steel products for the company's business requirements in Visakhapatnam and surrounding markets. The candidate will be responsible for identifying reliable suppliers, negotiating competitive prices, monitoring steel market trends, ensuring timely material availability and maintaining strong relationships with manufacturers, distributors, dealers and stockists. 2. Key Responsibilities A. Steel Procurement & Sourcing Handle end-to-end procurement of steel and iron & steel products. Source materials based on customer requirements, sales orders and stock requirements. Identify and develop reliable steel manufacturers, distributors, dealers, stockists and traders. Obtain quotations from multiple suppliers and evaluate commercial offers. Negotiate purchase prices, payment terms, credit periods and delivery schedules. Prepare and process purchase orders as per company requirements. Ensure timely procurement and availability of materials. Monitor purchase orders from order placement through dispatch and delivery. B. Steel Market & Price Monitoring Monitor daily steel prices and market movements in Visakhapatnam and Andhra Pradesh . Track pricing trends, demand-supply conditions and availability of different steel products. Maintain updated knowledge of prevailing market prices. Provide regular market updates and procurement recommendations to management. Identify opportunities for strategic and bulk purchases. Monitor competitor and supplier pricing wherever relevant. C. Supplier & Vendor Management Develop and maintain strong relationships with steel manufacturers, dealers, stockists and traders. Build a strong supplier network across Visakhapatnam and Andhra Pradesh . Identify new vendors to improve sourcing options and procurement competitiveness. Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, delivery capability, credit terms and reliability. Negotiate with suppliers to achieve the best possible commercial terms. Resolve supplier-related issues regarding price, quality, quantity and delivery. Maintain supplier performance records and databases. D. Purchase & Delivery Coordination Coordinate closely with Sales, Logistics, Finance, Warehouse and Operations teams. Verify material specifications, grade, size, quantity and delivery requirements before purchase. Coordinate with suppliers for dispatch and delivery schedules. Ensure materials reach the required destination within committed timelines. Follow up on pending purchase orders and delayed deliveries. Coordinate resolution of shortages, damages, quality issues and quantity discrepancies. E. Cost Control & Margin Improvement Negotiate competitive purchase prices to improve company margins. Compare supplier rates and identify cost-saving opportunities. Analyze landed cost, freight and other applicable procurement costs. Support management in maximizing procurement efficiency and profitability. Maintain records of purchase rates and supplier quotations. Ensure procurement decisions are aligned with business margins and customer requirements. F. Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate purchase orders, quotations, supplier records and procurement documentation. Prepare daily/weekly/monthly procurement reports. Maintain supplier-wise purchase and price records. Track pending orders, material availability and expected delivery dates. Coordinate with Finance regarding supplier invoices, payment terms and credit periods. Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and approval processes. 3. Educational Qualification Bachelor's degree in any relevant discipline. MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Operations or related fields will be an added advantage. Candidates with strong practical experience in steel procurement will be preferred. 4. Experience 5–10 years of relevant procurement/purchase experience. Steel / Iron & Steel industry experience is mandatory. Strong experience in sourcing steel products from manufacturers, distributors, dealers, stockists and traders. Experience in steel trading, distribution or B2B procurement will be preferred. Candidates with an established supplier network in Visakhapatnam / Andhra Pradesh will have an added advantage. 5. Required Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of the steel and iron & steel industry. Good understanding of steel products, grades, sizes and specifications. Strong knowledge of the Vizag/Andhra Pradesh steel market . Excellent supplier negotiation and vendor management skills. Strong commercial and analytical abilities. Good understanding of steel price movements and market trends. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent follow-up and coordination skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight procurement timelines. Good knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office. Experience with ERP/procurement software will be an advantage. 6. Preferred Candidate Profile The ideal candidate should have 5–10 years of hands-on procurement experience in the steel/iron & steel industry , with strong knowledge of the Visakhapatnam steel market and supplier network . The candidate should be capable of independently handling steel sourcing, supplier identification, price negotiation, purchase orders, market analysis, vendor management and delivery coordination . Candidates who have established relationships with steel manufacturers, dealers, stockists and traders in Vizag and Andhra Pradesh will be strongly preferred. 8.
